The Heart behind the Award – Dr. Brad Herbst
Dr. Bradley Herbst has been a pillar of excellence in podiatric medicine for more than two decades—earning respect from peers and patients alike. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from The Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine (now Kent State University), Dr. Herbst completed his surgical residency at Ascension St. Vincent’s in Jacksonville, where he earned the distinction of Chief Resident of Podiatry. These early achievements set the stage for a career defined by milestone after milestone.
He is board certified in foot surgery and a diplomat of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery, solidifying his reputation as a top-tier professional in his field. Over the course of his career, Dr. Herbst has focused not only on patient outcomes, but also on advancing the profession itself. For 15 years, he served as an attending physician at Ascension St. Vincent’s, where he trained countless podiatric residents and honed his expertise as a leader in wound care.
Dr. Herbst’s commitment to the medical community also led him to serve as Chief of Podiatry for Ascension St. Vincent’s for six years and later as Chief of Podiatry at Baptist Medical Center Beaches for two years. Today, Dr. Herbst holds hospital privileges at Baptist Medical Center and Ascension St. Vincent’s, performing surgeries at Baptist Medical Center South and Ascension St. Vincent’s Saint Johns County.
Specialties of Practice
Dr. Herbst practices all aspects of podiatry, specializing in areas such as forefoot surgery, diabetic limb salvage, and wound care. His skill in diabetic limb salvage has had a measurable impact on many lives, helping those with severe conditions regain the ability to live pain-free. Further, his leadership in adopting and lecturing on modern wound care products has advanced the standard of care in podiatry nationwide. Dr. Herbst has also recently partnered with Symphony Research, a collaboration providing his patients access to advanced, FDA-approved treatments to promote faster healing and improved outcomes.
His commitment doesn’t stop at treatment. Dr. Herbst combines his extensive medical knowledge with a compassionate approach, ensuring every patient feels heard, understood, and expertly cared for. This patient-first philosophy has made him a favorite among those who seek podiatric care in the Jacksonville area.
